Meeting at Farmeet

After more travel, the group makes their way to the city of Farmeet in the kingdom of King Evan Farhelm.

Into the Cave

The group made their way toward the cave that is kept by the Antlerkin after getting back on the road. Jovin and Carwyn took Adam’s unconscious and poisoned body to Greylyn’s farm for healing, greeted by the old woman and her three sons. While they worked on sparing Adam’s life the others made their way to the cave and settled into a well preserved hideaway, though it became clear from their searches that the place was not undisturbed. Several sets of thick booted prints implied a military presence in the woods some time ago.

Adam’s wounds and the poison filling his body were terrible, but they did not prove fatal. Greylyn was able to revive him and soon he was eating and joining the group weakly.

After a night in the cave, the group made their way to Farmeet, intending to resupply and get on the road within a few hours, but part of the search revealed a young woman named Jatalla who ran a magical supply store in the city. She was quite obviously pregnant and in a rough state, but it was her familiarity with several trinkets that drew attention. Adam and Helena spoke to her at length and discovered that she was carrying Jet’s child, and that she was almost ready to give birth.

At the same time, Carwym was making a “report” to Leutenant George of the town guard to get information about the King’s interest in Greylyn’s farm. Jovin and Bolladon became aware that they were being stalked, likely by an abomination of some sort. They tracked down Della Rose and took everyone into the safety of the basement of the magic shop, where they secured the place and locked it down.

And just as things looked calm, Jatalla took a turn for the worse, saying, “Something is wrong,” before losing consciousness and falling to the ground.

Day One on the Road

Halfway between Callassay and Farmeet, the party comes along another combat site. The fish with the parchment in its mouth leads Jovin and Adam to scout ahead to see what Jet might have had in store.

Jovin, with the help of Tikka, finds the spot where the fish had been left. Adam finds a tree has grown too fast to keep up with the bark and looks skyward for clues. Jovin climbs the tree and sees a fire on the horizon. they go back to the crowd and head back with the warning of the fire in the sky. They carry on and as they approach the fire, Jovin breaking off into the woods alongside the road with B’dar his three legged bear.

They approach a burning waystation, with three bedraggled and soot covered men, asking if they would be able to travel along the road to Farmeet. The group senses trouble as Jovin sees four men waiting in the woods at a bit of a distance. He begins to lay snares as he makes his way back to his friends.

After the five present make their way around the smoldering building, the four men dash out from their wooded hiding spot and rush at Adam and Helena, while the three men on the porch spring to attack Carwyn, Bolladon and the still-ahorse DellaRose.

Eight Years Later

Eight years after the curse is made weird again.

Each of the members of the old school gang got a message from Jet. He spoke the nursery rhyme back to all his old friends and would not respond to return messages.

Adrente Ardashe contacted them after Adam reached out to him after all of the others contacted Helena. Those

Day 2: Swimmin' and Monsters

After sweating it out in the lobby by the Head Master’s office, Jet is taken to the infirmary by Mother Mena, the head school nurse. When she returns with the boy, he is in much better spirits and looks far better than after the fight. Mother Mena, however, looks like she’s been fighting off tears.

Helena hands her a handkerchief and the nurse rushes into the Head Master’s office for what seems to be an eternity. She leaves, and the children are all asked to file into the Head Master’s office en masse. Despite a terribly thorough and rather grown-up report from Carwyn, a sassy set of retorts from Della Rose and mostly terror from the rest of the children, the Head Master gives a stern warning about school fighting, insisting the children call professors in the event of bullying.

He then asks Jet to wait for them in the lobby. When he leaves the room, Headmaster Templeton explains that Jet is poor and is often bullied. He asks the six gathered to try and befriend the boy and keep an eye out for him. He then asks that they understand that he has given them a very stern warning and they are to behave themselves. He sends them on their way.

Jet, terrified he will be expelled, is shaken, but when the group assures him that his place in school is safe, he excitedly asks them if they wan tto be his friends and if they want to go to his favorite swimming spot, with a big rock and trees with swingy branches. The group agrees to meet him after school and go to the swimming hole.

  • Classes went well for most…even Jovin found a subject at which he excelled.
  • The gang met with Jet and headed out to the watering hole, narrowly missing a harrowing experience with a wild boar.
  • Jet exposed his little webbed toes and made a show of being the best swimmer there.
  • Jet flung a fish out of the water nearly as big as him…and it died midair.
  • Adam became uncomfortable and started getting the kids out of the water and moving back towards home.
  • DellaRose and Carwyn saw shadows on the far bank. They sped up the egress.
  • The group helped Jovin bring home his huge fish, and he carried it the rest of the way.
  • Adam did some research and wrote a thesis to the Headmaster, who immediately gathered those children who lived at the academy. His concern was to inform them they are not to return to that place until he gave them permission, showing them an old unused portion of the library for them to play in safely.
  • The next day at school, Jet arrived for breakfast and was let in on this “secret” place to play at the Academy.
  • During afternoon classes, a child ran through the halls screaming that there was a monster in the school. There was mild panic (except for Trinity Ardashe, the magic professor’s class) and the school was let out early.
  • The gang took after the monster leading them to the library.
First Day at School

Adam and Helena have attended The Academy of Callasay together the last two years. They seem to get along fairly well.

DellaRosa has been working around school doing various housekeeping duties. Until just before the new school year where she is signed up for attendance.

Carwyn and Bolladon met on the long boat ride from Abarassa to Port Callasay. Bolladon was ill nearly the entire time. But he still managed to talk the poor girl’s ear off about his amazing father.

Adam is asked to help during holiday, but tutoring a young man named Jovan. He seems to mean very well, but his studies are severely lacking.

DellaRosa, Jovan and Carwyn and Bolladon are called in for First Year assembly led by Headmaster Marcus Templeton. The speeches and Academy rules are given and the rest of the school is brought in for more beginning of year presentations.

After the children are excused from the Great Hall to breakfast together, a skirmish breaks out when several of the older children begin picking on a small first year.
